Whiteley Foster is a 2016 graduate of Salve Regina University and a 2018 graduate of The Center for Cartoon Studies. Their work is mainly digital, being informed both by their BA in painting as well as by their MFA in Cartooning. They work completely in photoshop with several brushes and the pen tool for background work. They are inspired mainly by American illustrators such as Leyendecker and Mead Schaeffer in content, and Minkyu Lee in style.
Currently Whiteley makes a living as a freelance artist, but has worked as an artist assistant to Tracey Butler and Todd Dezago. Most of Whiteley’s illustrations are of portraits and characters interacting with landscapes. However, their personal graphic novel Vervain University (2018) focuses on issues of anxiety and stress in day to day life; topics that they continuously try to address in their other comic work.
